Ousted OpenAI Director Sam Altman to Lead Microsoft’s New AI Team

Former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will join Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team, according to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

The Microsoft boss, who reportedly owns 49% of OpenAI, said on social media platform , would join Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team.

“We look forward to moving quickly to provide them with the resources they need to succeed,” Nadella said.

“We remain committed to our partnership with OpenAI and are confident in our product roadmap, our ability to continue to innovate with everything we announced at Microsoft Ignite, and to continue supporting our customers and partners.

The OpenAI board of directors announced Friday evening that it deletion Altman and replaces him on an interim basis with chief technology officer Mira Murati.

The post said Altman “was not always candid in his communications with the board.”
